SCBA Selection Guide for Marine and Offshore Crews

Cylinder sizes, working durations, storage boxes, and SOLAS compliance — everything operators need to know when specifying self-contained breathing apparatus.

Back to News

Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is mandatory equipment for firefighting parties on SOLAS vessels, and the right specification depends on vessel size, fire plan, and crew training. Sea Keepers supplies the complete YIBEI SCBA range for marine and offshore use.

The core choice is cylinder capacity: 6L and 6.8L sets at 300 bar give roughly 45 minutes of working duration for most firefighting tasks, while the 9L set extends working time for larger vessels and offshore installations where escape routes are longer.

A complete SCBA station is more than the set itself. Storage boxes protect cylinders and masks from UV and salt spray, carry cases keep spare cylinders ready at fire stations, and wall-mounted cabinets keep emergency escape breathing devices (EEBDs) visible along escape routes.

Our fire safety team can review your vessel's fire control plan and recommend SCBA quantities, spare cylinder counts, and storage placement to satisfy both class requirements and practical drill response times.
