From Concept to Classification: How Our Naval Architects Design a Vessel

Feasibility, hull form, structure, stability, and class approval — walking through the Sea Keepers design process that turns an idea into an approved vessel.

Back to News

Every vessel in our portfolio started as a question: can this mission be served, at this cost, under these rules? Our feasibility and concept design service answers that question before serious money is spent, with parametric studies, outline specifications, and budget estimates.

From an approved concept, the hull takes shape in 3D CAD — fairing, hydrostatics, and digital twin models that feed directly into structural design. Classification rule-based scantlings and finite element analysis verify the structure against the class society's requirements.

Stability work runs in parallel: intact and damaged stability, trim and longitudinal strength, all documented in the stability booklet that flag and class will scrutinise. CFD resistance and propulsion studies size the engines and confirm speed predictions before steel is cut.

The final stage is classification and regulatory approval — drawing submissions, comment resolution, and survey support through construction. One team, one accountable process, from napkin sketch to delivery trials.
